Head Shot of Lucie St-Martin

« Her performance was stellar: she had a great theatrical confidence, powerful projection and clear diction. In terms of singing: her vocal timbre is pleasant; her voice is well balanced and agile.»

-Vivianne Jeanson-Delorme, La Scena Musicale, 11 mars 2022

It has been noted that soprano Lucie St-Martin possesses a distinctive stage presence that captivates audiences. After studying at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and École de musique Vincent d’Indy, Lucie is completing an artistic residency at Opéra de Montréal: she is part of the 10 Canadian singers who form the Atelier lyrique.

She stands out for the realism and depth she brings to her interpretations, notably in the roles of Giannetta (L’Elisir d’amore, Opéra de Québec), Armide/narration (L’Enfer des lumières, Orchestre de l’Agora), la Passagère (Le Flambeau de la nuit, Opéra de Montréal), the title role of La Fille du tambour-major (Opéra bouffe du Québec), Titania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Adèle (Die Fledermaus), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Pauline (La Vie parisienne), as well as Meg Giry and Christine Daaé (The Phantom of the Opera).

The brilliance of her voice has led to collaborations with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, Orchestre Métropolitain, I Musici, Orchestre de l’Agora, BOP, Orchestre Azimut, Orchestre de la Francophonie, and the Opéra Bouffe du Québec. Lucie has taken part in several international workshops, including InCanto Tignano, the Lachine International Vocal Academy, l’Académie de musique du Domaine Forget and Opera NUOVA. She has worked with several acclaimed professionals, including Donna Brown, Ariane Girard, Olivier Godin, Esther Gonthier, Jean-François Lapointe, Marie-Danielle and Yolande Parent, Soile Isokoski and Jo-Anne Donoghue.

She communicates her passion for dramaturgy by personally reinventing a meaning for her performances. She approaches her roles with a new perspective, bringing a unique and personal flavour to the repertoire. She is currently perfecting her craft in the role of Cendrillon (Massenet) and Mélisande (Debussy) under Ariane Girard and Esther Gonthier.

Lucie St-Martin is a grant recipient of the Jacqueline Desmarais, McAbbie and Desjardins foundations, Jeunesses Musicales Canada, and the Opéra Bouffe du Québec. In 2019, she received the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal.
